The 27th Annual Social Work Day at the United Nations was held in New York City on March 29, 2010. CSWE was a collaborating organization in this event and was represented by President-Elect Mitt Joyner, Executive Director Julia Watkins, and Katherine A. Kendall Institute Program Coordinator Andrea Bediako. Representatives from IASSW, IFSW, and ICSW were also in attendance. The theme of this year’s event was Social Work and Social Welfare: A Commitment to Partnership with the United Nations. The audience was privileged to be addressed by Helen Clark, administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the third highest ranking official in the United Nations. Speakers gave presentations on a range of topics including equality, life course challenges and sustainable environment, which provided a preview for the 2010 Joint World Conference in Hong Kong this June.
