2007 Feminist Scholarship Award Honoree: Edith A. Lewis
Edith A. Lewis, associate professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, has been examining issues of women's empowerment for many years. She created the Network Utilization Project (Lewis and Ford, 1991), a ethnic and gender-sensitive form of community building that draws on the strengths of African-American women and families. Lewis was also an early member of the Women's Council (then the Commission) who helped to establish the Feminist Scholarship Award, so it is particularly fitting that she would be the Honoree for the Award.
