Family, friends, and members of the social work community gathered in Mitchellville, MD, to celebrate the life Katherine Kendall on March 5, 2011. Kendall, an icon of social work education, passed away on December 1, 2010, at the age of 100. Throughout the service, family, friends, and colleagues told stories of Katherine’s compassion, wit, leadership, mentorship, and generosity. Her legacy in international social work and social work education will continue through the Katherine A. Kendall Institute for International Social Work Education. Katherine will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to meet her.
