On July 24, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2010 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS-Education) Appropriations bill, the bill that provides annual funding to the Department of Education as well as the various agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
