Scholars Program

CSWE Scholars Program

The CSWE Scholars Program provides both senior scholars—faculty members—and junior scholars such as doctoral students or individuals recently completing their doctoral dissertation with the opportunity to work on research projects and initiatives of interest to the scholar as well as to CSWE. Length and intensity of the commitment are dependent upon several factors. These include funding, flexibility of the scholar's schedule, and the specifics of the project.

The Scholars Program especially seeks social work faculty with sabbatical funding for senior scholars and doctoral students or junior faculty with some finanical support for Junior Scholars. Depending upon the specifications of the project, a small cost-of-living stipend may be available. Descriptions of current and past CSWE Scholars are available along with their final reports.

We welcome your interest and inquiries. Our current priorities for the Scholars Program include (1) effective mentorship programs for diverse students and faculty, (2) teaching evidence-based practice, (3) competencies/competency-based education, and (4) gerontology. Applications for projects outside of the scope of the stated priorities will still be accepted and considered.

If you are interested in becoming a CSWE Junior or Senior Scholar, please complete the Scholars Program Application and submit it to the program officer,  Jessica Holmes, associate director for research in the Office of Social Work Education and Research. Please note that all Scholars are expected to be members of CSWE for the duration of their project. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If you have questions regarding the Scholars Program, feel free to contact Ms. Holmes.
