An Innovative New Tool for Teaching Evidence-Based Practice Across Core and Foundation Social Work Curricula

REACH-SW training workshops. Developed with National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funding, REACH-SW is a curriculum enhancement tool designed to support social work faculty in teaching baccalaureate and master’s students how to apply evidence-based practice approaches to social work practice.

REACH-SW registrants received an interactive CD-ROM that contained background information on EBP for faculty, as well as dozens of video clips, lecture notes, student assignments and handouts, classroom activities, case examples, and PowerPoint slide presentations. Users were encouraged to download and customize for classroom use within a variety of core and foundation social work courses (e.g., HBSE, policy, introduction/advanced practice, research, etc).
"The hands-on experiential training by REACH-SW was enormously helpful to the faculty of the College of Social Work. The training was relevant, engaging and immediately applicable. We will use the knowledge and skills gained from this training by infusing the content throughout our curriculum."
