(201 Lindenwood, Laredo, TX)
Estela Galvan Miranda, LBSW, CLT (HHS), MLT (ASCP), has practiced in Laredo, TX a border city to Mexico, for the past 15 years as a Licensed Bachelor’s Social Worker (LBSW). Galvan Miranda’s experience includes dealing with barriers faced by immigrants and global migrants in accessing appropriate and proper education, medical, and mental health care services. Her experience and education allow her to better facilitate, intervene, and educate this population to meet the individuals' and/or families' needs and empower these individuals to become self sufficient. In educational settings, the barriers faced by this population at times can hinder academic performance. Her goal is to become accredited to represent (at court level) clients who are victims of crime, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Being bilingual and having prior teaching experience, Galvan Miranda brought a valuable perspective to this panel.
