2011 UN Social Work Day

March 28, 2011

USCandUNSocialWorkDay011.JPGThe Council on Social Work Education was a proud sponsor of the 28th Annual Social Work Day at the United Nations (UN) held on March 28, 2011. The program began with touching tributes to Katherine A. Kendall, a founding member and former executive director of CSWE and David Roth, a founding member of IFSW’s United Nation’s team and former executive director of the Jewish Child Care Association. Both passed away in 2010.

Representatives from IASSW, IFSW, and ICSW gave an update on The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development. The final draft of the document will be unveiled at the 2012 UN Social Work Day.

The audience was then addressed by Robert Huber from the UN Division of Social Policy and Development and presentations followed addressing child trafficking and the girl child, innovations in an intergenerational work, and climate change.
