2016 Hokenstad Lecture

The CSWE Global Commission Hokenstad Lecture Committee has selected Darja Zaviršek of the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia to be the 2016 Hokenstad Lecturer. Her presentation, "The Humanitarian Crisis of Migration: Current Dimensions and Challenges for Social Work Practice," will be given at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, November 5, 2016.

Darja has written, edited, or co-edited 15 books, such as Women and Mental Health, 1994; Disability as a Cultural Trauma, 2000; Sustainable Development in Social Work: The Case of a Regional Network in the Balkans, 2005 (co-editor); Women and Citizenship in Central and Eastern Europe, 2006; Ethnicity in Eastern Europe: A Challenge for Social Work Education, 2007; Critical Edge Issues in Social Work and Social Policy: Comparative Research Perspective, 2009; Ethical Dilemmas in Social Work: International Perspective, 2010; From Blood to Care: Social Parenthood in a Global World, 2012; and National and Intercountry Adoption: From Personal Stories to Best Practice, 2012. In addition, she has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles. Since 2014 she has been a board member of the European Social Work Research Association and was the chair of the European Conference in Social Work Research in 2015.
