Fourth Conference on International Social Work

The Council on Social Work Education and the Katherine A. Kendall Institute were sponsors of the Fourth Conference on International Social Work, which was hosted by the University of Southern California School of Social Work, March 25–27, 2011. Wide-ranging topics were discussed, including the following:

  • International Social Work: What is it? What should it be?
  • Transnational Research Across National Boundaries: Lessons for International Social Work
  • Emerging Social Work in Developing Countries: The Case of China
  • Integrating International Research in Social Work Curriculum

Members from the Katherine A. Kendall Institute Advisory Board and the Global Commission and its councils attended.  Andrea Bediako, international program coordinator for the Katherine A. Kendall Institute, gave a presentation titled Preparing Social Workers for Humanitarian Careers. A conference summary and speaker biographies are available on the conference website.
