Leah Prussia

First Year Fellow

Leah Prussia is a student in the doctoral program in social work at St. Catherine University–University of St. Thomas. She completed an undergraduate degree in psychology at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, and an MSW degree at the University of North Dakota. Ms. Prussia works as a faculty assistant at the College of St. Scholastica. In her doctoral program she is developing a conceptual framework that combines indigenous wisdom, relational-cultural theory, and somatic literacy, which aspires to address the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical trauma caused by disconnection from the natural world. She opened a private practice in 2013 called Natural Connections LLC, which provides individual counseling, family and group therapy, program consultation, and individual and organizational supervision services. She also volunteers on the Board of Sacred Spirits. After completing her doctoral degree Ms. Prussia plans to contribute knowledge and skills to the field of social work related to collaboration with the natural environment in the healing process and to provide on-going mental health and substance-use support to individuals, groups, and communities. She is licensed in the state of Minnesota as an LICSW.
