CSWE Celebrates Black History Month

There are plenty of ways to celebrate Black History Month 2018! Explore the resources and CSWE Initiatives below to join us in honoring and continuing the legacy of Black social work educators.

  • Draw inspiration from the past. Head over to the CSWE website to learn about six influential Black social work educators.
  • Honor a colleague. Nominate an exemplary leader to present the Carl A. Scott Memorial Lecture at the 2018 Annual Program Meeting. Nominees should be known for promoting diversity, social and economic justice, and human rights.
  • Learn about HBCUs. Browse a special section of the Journal on Social Work Education about historically Black colleges and universities.
  • Support future students. Donate to the Carl A. Scott Memorial Fund, which is used to award book scholarships to students committed to work for equity and social justice in social work.
  • Inspire others. Share how you are celebrating Black History Month on Twitter by tagging us @CSocialWorkEd with #BlackHistoryMonth and we’ll help spread the word.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Black History Month, and we look forward to participating in Social Work Month in March!
