In May, Case Western Reserve University honored Grover “Cleve” Gilmore’s longstanding excellence in a chairing ceremony to celebrate his appointment as the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Dean in Applied Social Sciences, a newly established endowed deanship.

In recognition of Anthony Hassan’s work as the founding director of the Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans & Military Families at the University of Southern California’s School of Social Work over the years, the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America has presented him with its 2014 Civilian Service Award.

Barbara Shank (CSWE Board Chair and dean of the School of Social Work at the University of St. Thomas, St. Catherine University) had the honor of delivering the graduate commencement address, “Five Rules for Commencing a Professional Career,” on May 23, 2014, at St. Catherine University.

Vikki Vandiver has been named dean of the University of Alabama School of Social Work. Vandiver has served as associate dean for academic affairs at the Portland State University School of Social Work since 2012 and has been a faculty member at PSU since 1992.
