Accreditation Specialist

Katie Benson is an accreditation specialist at the Council for Social Work Education (CSWE), where she works with baccalaureate and master’s social work programs as they enter or continue the candidacy or reaffirmation process of accreditation. Prior to joining the accreditation team, she was the research associate for CSWE. Before joining CSWE, Katie held research roles at the American Association of University Women and the National Crime Prevention Council. Katie also served as an AmeriCorps volunteer doing summers of service, spending one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. With over 13 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Katie has published research reports, presented at professional conferences, and worked as a liaison between clients and nonprofit organizations. Katie’s previous research topics include human trafficking as well as gender equity and economic security. Katie received her BSW from Shepherd University and then her MSW with a focus in community empowerment and program development as well as a certificate in nonprofit management from the University of Georgia.
