Councils Release Social Justice Statements on CSWE Spark

In response to the many disturbing events that have occurred over the past few months and the various communities that have been affected as a result, two CSWE councils have issued important statements that speak to these communities in which they represent . Building on the statements that CSWE made on social justice, members of the Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education and the Council on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression have  spoken out about how social work educators can continue to effect such necessary change. As a profession, we are called to think, teach, and write about social change, specifically antiracism, and to engage in antiracist practices. How can you use your own research, knowledge, and activism in this battle?

Black trans lives matter. Black queer lives matter. All Black lives matter. We see you, and we must do better as social work educators, practitioners, and researchers. In order for real change to happen, we must enact concrete strategies at micro, mezzo, and macro levels of practice.
