Two students enrolled at accredited social work programs were appointed to CSWE’s Board of Directors on November 15. Wendy Hernandez-De La Cruz and Oscar Kemp will serve one-year terms and become the first students to ever serve on the organization’s board.
“I am so glad to welcome Wendy and Oscar, two outstanding students, to CSWE’s leadership and know that their unique perspectives will help our organization better serve students and faculty at accredited programs,” said Saundra Starks, EdD, LCSW, chair of CSWE’s Board of Directors. “I am also grateful for the support of the Board of Directors to expand our organization’s leadership to include students as we work towards our strategic goals.”
Hernandez-De La Cruz is pursuing a master’s degree in social work from the Department of Social Work in the College of Health Science and Human Service at California State University Monterey Bay. Kemp is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work.
