ALEXANDRIA, VA – Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is seeking nominations for qualified candidates to serve on its Board of Directors (BOD) and National Nominating Committee (NNC).
“Our governing bodies are instrumental to supporting the work of CSWE through their contributions to fiduciary oversight, strategic planning, and generative thinking,” said Dr. Halaevalu Vakalahi, President and CEO of CSWE. “Service on a governing body provides opportunities for networking and expansion of leadership skills while contributing to our mission to ensure and enhance the quality of social work education.”
Board of Directors (BOD)
The CSWE BOD oversees and approves all CSWE programs, plans, and budgets. The Board governs the affairs of CSWE and exercises all the powers, rights, and privileges of CSWE subject to the provisions of law and its by-laws.The CSWE BOD has five upcoming vacancies:
- One (1) Undergraduate Faculty Representative: A faculty member in an accredited undergraduate social work education program
- One (1) Graduate Faculty Representative: A faculty member in an accredited graduate social work education program
- Two (2) Undergraduate Program Representatives: Deans or directors of accredited undergraduate social work education programs
- One (1) Graduate Program Representative: A dean or director of an accredited graduate social work education program
National Nominating Committee (NNC)
The NNC’s primary responsibility is to recruit, evaluate, and nominate candidates who demonstrate leadership ability and skills that are consistent with the needs and objectives of CSWE to serve on the organization’s BOD and NNC.The NNC has five upcoming vacancies:
- Two (2) Graduate Program Representatives: Deans or directors of accredited graduate social work education programs
- One (1) Undergraduate Program Representative: A dean or director of an accredited undergraduate social work education program
- Two (2) Undergraduate Faculty Representatives: Faculty members in an accredited undergraduate social work education program
All NNC candidates must be able to attend the NNC meeting connected to the Annual Conference and participate in additional meetings, including those scheduled as needed.
All nominees for both the NNC and BOD must be active CSWE members and remain so throughout their term of service. These positions are 3-year terms, beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2029.
