Violence Against Women and Children Award

The annual Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Manuscript Award is awarded to the author of the manuscript that most advances feminist knowledge in the field of violence against women and children. The award honors the author(s) of the APM submitted proposal that most advances feminist knowledge in the field of violence against women and children. The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding scholarship of early career scholars working in the area of violence against women and children in social work education, so to be considered for the VAWC Manuscript award, the awardee must be an early career scholar who is the sole presenter or primary presenter of the accepted APM presentation. For the purpose of this award, an early career scholar is defined as a doctoral student or an academic professional with no more than seven years since earning their highest degree (either an MSW, DSW, or PhD).

All applications for the VAWC award must be submitted online through the CSWE Submittable website. Those submitting a manuscript must choose between the Feminist Manuscript or the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Award; they cannot submit to both awards. Applications are accepted through May 6, 2022, by 11:59 PM (ET). A complete online submission for this award includes the following attachments:
  • A blinded copy of the manuscript with all identifying information removed. Submit the manuscript as a Word document.
  • A separate title page showing name, credentials, affiliation, and email address of all authors and identifying the corresponding author and their status (doctoral student or junior faculty member).
The person or persons selected for this award are expected to present their paper at APM. The award will be presented at the Feminist Networking Breakfast during the Annual Program Meeting (APM) held by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
