Overview

Each spring, CSWE invites experienced and developing leaders to participate in key leadership and service activities through commissions and councils, advisory boards, accreditation services, and committees. We are pleased to announce the 2026 Call for Volunteers. 

The call for these opportunities opens on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and the deadline for member volunteer applications is Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM (ET).

Letter from Dr. Jenny Jones, Chair of the CSWE Board of Directors

Dear Colleagues:

It is truly a pleasure to invite you to shape the work of CSWE by applying to serve on one of its commissions, councils, or other governance groups.

CSWE’s distinguished commissions and councils offer countless opportunities for members like you to expand your leadership skills and make lasting connections with other social work education leaders.
Our commissions and councils are involved in a variety of important issues and initiatives. If you’re passionate about global issues, we have a commission for that; if you’re interested in research, we have a commission for that; if you’re an advocate for disability justice, we have a council for that; if your focus is on women and gender issues, we have a council for that. If you want to help shape CSWE’s Annual Conference or CSWE Press, we have councils for them too.

Apply now to serve a 3-year appointment on CSWE commissions and councils, with terms that begin on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

The people who serve on CSWE’s commissions and councils are crucial to advancing the work of the organization and the work of our profession. Your time and talent can help shape our direction. With five commissions and 12 councils from which to choose, there may be one that is a perfect fit for your skills, interests, or career trajectory. CSWE also has volunteer leadership and service opportunities in its centers, initiatives, and accreditation services!
