Clinical Practice

The Clinical Practice Track addresses contemporary issues relating to clinical/direct social work practice and clinical social work practice education. Of particular interest are abstracts that focus on how clinical practice can continue to thrive in modern and complex service environments, including interdisciplinary settings, while still centering person-in-environment and critical social work values including social justice. Social work clinicians are invited to share about their innovative practices in diverse communities, while social work educators are invited to share about innovations in the ways they teach about clinical social work practice. Examples of topics of interest include: conceptualizing and addressing psychosocial distress while accounting for systemic inequities; addressing ethical practice dilemmas; teaching clinical/direct practice in educational settings; exploring social work roles in the practice environment; sharing innovative direct practice interventions and service models; identifying emerging intervention needs for new or at-risk populations; and exploring the implications of technological change for clinical practice, supervision, and education.
