Megan Fujita, PhD, MSW

Executive Director of Accreditation

Megan Fujita, PhD, MSW Megan Fujita, MSW, PhD, is executive director of accreditation at the Council on Social Work Education. In this role, she oversees accreditation operations of more than 900 social work programs and post-Master’s social work fellowship programs across the United States and its territories. Megan brings expertise in higher education policy, competency-based education, and assessment/program evaluation. She is an invited speaker on diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, an area where much of her work is focused. Megan has served in a variety of administrative roles at universities, including assistant dean of assessment and evaluation at the George Washington University School of Nursing and curriculum coordinator at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. 

Megan holds a PhD in education policy and research methodology from George Mason University and a Master of Social Work in interpersonal practice and mental health from the University of Michigan. She is a lecturer at George Washington University where she teaches statistics and holds a faculty affiliate appointment at George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development. Megan’s research focuses on postsecondary/financial decision-making and mental health among students with disabilities and their families. 

Whether in policy or higher education arenas, social work values are core to Megan’s professional and personal identities. She is a strategic innovator whose leadership is built on pillars of grace, joy, and accountability. She believes in uplifting others by empowering them to recognize and hone professional identities aligned with their passion and skills.  For fun, Megan enjoys traveling, painting, and hiking.
