Navigating Environmental Degradation: Access, Relationships, Community Resilience, and Attunement

Presented by the Council on Environmental Justice and Human Rights (CEJHR)
Thursday, November 13 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM ET

This interactive panel explores how environmental degradation and “natural” disasters disproportionately harm marginalized communities, including persons with disabilities. An intersectional approach, incorporating tenets of disability justice and environmental justice, suggests communities can build inclusive responses based on principles of community care, mutual aid, and attunement between people and the planet.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will examine how systemic inequalities, including ableism, racism, and economic disparities, exacerbate the vulnerability of individuals with disabilities during disasters, using Hurricanes Katrina, Maria, Helene, and the LA wildfires as examples.
  • Participants will learn how disability justice principles—such as intersectionality, interdependence, and collective access—can inform inclusive disaster preparedness, response and recovery efforts, fostering collective liberation and resilience.
  • Participants will discuss how attunement with the natural world and centering disability joy can support healing, resilience, and justice in the context of climate crises and social work interventions.

Integrating AI into Social Work Education: Making the Leap into Our Future

Presented by the Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education (Womens Counil)
Monday, November 17 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) presents a unique opportunity to reshape social work education, particularly within diverse learning environments. This presentation explores how AI policy and tools can be effectively incorporated into curriculum through class assignments and exercises, enhancing student engagement, critical thinking, and practical skill development. Emphasis will be placed on creating anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive AI approaches that align with social work values and principles with a Quality Matters alignment. Participants will gain insight into the integration of Gen AI in courses that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Learning Objectives

  • Assess the impact of AI on social work education.
  • Explore the potential of AI-driven assignments in fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and practical application of social work theories.
  • Identify strategies for creating anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive AI-based exercises that align with social work values and principles.

AI for the Human Side of Social Work: A Live Simulation Demonstration

Presentation by CSWE's Corporate Partner Noodle
Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM ET
Social work is built on conversation. Whether it’s calming a client in crisis, setting a boundary, navigating power, or managing conflict across systems—what your students say, and how they say it, can change everything.

Giving students space to practice those moments—at scale, with reflection and feedback—isn’t easy, but it’s increasingly essential.

Join the Noodle team for a live walkthrough of Scenario AI, a voice-activated simulation tool that helps social work students build confidence in emotionally complex conversations before they enter the field. It listens, adapts, and delivers real-time feedback on empathy, tone, and communication—so students don’t just know the material, they know how to use it.

Benefits of Noodle’s Scenario AI include:

  • Scalable practice without requiring more field hours
  • Stronger student confidence and skill transfer
  • Measurable growth in communication and reflection

From this webinar, you’ll leave with:

  1. A firsthand look at Scenario AI in action—and what makes it a groundbreaking tool for scalable, emotionally responsive learning
  2. Practical ideas for how your social work program can use Scenario AI to build real-world communication, reflection, and field readiness
  3. A clear understanding of how Scenario AI integrates into your existing LMS and curriculum—without adding to faculty workload
Whether you’re leading academic programs, shaping field education, mentoring students, or rethinking how learning happens—this session is for you.

Powerful Allies: How Social Work & Civilian Oversight can foster Community Trust

Presented by the City of Philadelphia's Citizens Police Oversight Commission

This Webinar will provide CSWE participants with an overview of the role of Civilian Oversight of Police, various oversight models in existence, the history of its creation in Philadelphia, and the mission and day to day operations of the Citizens Police Oversight Commission.

Understanding police oversight offers social workers a powerful lens through which to promote social justice, influence policy reform, and contribute to safer, more equitable public institutions. The intersection of police oversight and social work presents meaningful opportunities for collaboration, professional growth, and substantial impact on the communities we serve.

Webinar attendees will also learn about the many ways that Oversight professionals come to this work, and how various professionals can use their expertise to improve and impact community-police relations through advocacy, training, allyship and policy work.

Join us as we explore ways in which social workers can make profound impacts outside of our usual practice settings.
