Preconference Institutes

​​CSWE is pleased to offer three preconference events at the 2023 Annual Program Meeting (APM). These preconference events will be held on Thursday, October 26, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. Attendance at each event requires a separate registration and fee.

Leadership Development Institute

The CSWE Leadership Development Institute is intended for anyone interested in leadership development. This includes associate deans, directors of admissions, program directors, and others. This Institute will feature a series of workshops on the following topics: 

  • Growing leadership skills 

  • Leadership styles for challenging times (antiracist leadership practices and feminist leadership model) 

  • Leadership in times of crisis  
     

Registration Fees Continuing Education Credits (CEs)

CSWE Members: $100

No CE's can be earned.

Nonmembers: $150
Boxed lunch included.

No CE's can be earned.

 

Field Education Institute


The CSWE Field Education Institute is designed for anyone interested in field education. This includes deans and directors, field directors, faculty members, and field personnel. The program will kick off with a keynote speech and panel response followed by a series of breakout sessions for two tracks:

  • Antiracist practice

  • Cultural humility

 

Registration Fees Continuing Education Credits (CEs)

CSWE Members:  $250

Up to 5 CEs can be earned.

Nonmembers:  $300
Boxed lunch included.

CE registration required.

 

Teaching Institute for Faculty

The CSWE Teaching Institute for Faculty is designed to develop the pedagogical skills of social work educators. This interactive institute will feature keynote sessions followed by a series of workshop sessions on various topics including the following:

  • Empowering faculty to address reproductive justice and abortion in social work education

  • Teaching about clinical work with diverse populations 

  • Teaching students about cross-cultural social work practice

  • Teaching environmental justice: skills and curricular design for social work educators

CSWE Members: $250

Up to 6 CEs can be earned.

Nonmembers: $300

Assessment Institute

CSWE is pleased to offer the Assessment Institute at the 2023 Annual Program Meeting (APM). The event will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. The 2023 Assessment Institute is designed for faculty and academic staff members focused on assessment requirements of the 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS). Sessions will address the assessment of anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculum, administrative, and governance structures, as well as faculty and student recruitment and retention. We are particularly interested in anti-oppressive models of assessment. Attendance requires a separate registration and fee.

Student Summit

CSWE is pleased to offer the Student Summit at the 2023 Annual Program Meeting (APM). The 2023 Student Summit is a student-focused event to include a keynote speaker, additional speakers in breakout sessions, and an open discussion. The goal of the summit is to give social work students their own voice at APM as well as provide insight and information to BSW and MSW students approaching graduation. The summit will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, 9:00 AM–11:15 AM. Attendance requires a separate registration and fee.
