A special issue of the Journal of Social Work Education (JSWE) released this month offers 19 articles that focus on best practices and lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic and prior natural disasters.
CSWE members can access each article for free by clicking on “JSWE Online” in the bottom right corner of the CSWE homepage and logging in to reach the JSWE site on Taylor & Francis Online.
“The last similar experience was the 1918 pandemic, and that happened during a time when the social work profession was still emerging,” said JSWE Editor-in-Chief Danielle Parrish, PhD, MSW, an associate professor at the Diana G. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University. “Our hope was to gather important research and the lessons learned about navigating education during the COVID-19 pandemic with an eye toward how these could apply to future disruptions, be they pandemics or natural disasters like storms or flooding.”

More than 90 articles were submitted for review, more than any special issue in the last 15 years.
