APM Assignment: 2020-2022

Current definitions of spirituality from the social work education literature clarify the distinctions and connections between religion and spirituality. This allows social workers to acknowledge spirituality as a universal aspect of human experience and development that may or may not be expressed through religious beliefs and institutions. This Track disseminates the latest knowledge about cultural competence, theory, practice models, research, and curriculum development regarding spirituality in social work education. It also addresses contemporary social work practice as mediated by the interconnections between spirituality and global perspectives. In addition, dialogue on current professional controversies is encouraged, and this Track seeks to honor the diversity of religious and nonreligious paths.
