CSWE celebrates Social Work Month 2016, along with other organizations in the support of the Forging Solutions Out of Challenges theme.

Check this page throughout March for celebration updates and follow CSWE on Twitter for useful information relevant to social work education! Since March is also Women's History Month, we'll also be tweeting about important contributions that women have made throughout social work history.

  1. Barry University has the following events:
    • March 11-12 – TransCon by Aqua Foundation. Miami, FL

    • March 12 – Co-host League of Women Voters Forum: Open Government and You. Ft. Myers, FL

    • March 13 – Miami Dade NASW-FL Brunch and Awards Ceremony-   celebrating our Barry student Ms. Lismerys. M. Toledo as Social Work Student of the Year.

    • March 15 – Professional Development: “Suicide and violence  prevention with youth & families dealing with gender & orientation topics”. Miami, FL

    • March 15 – Paper Tigers Movie Screening & Dialogue. Miami, FL

    • March 16, 30 – TRACKS Intergroup Dialogue Series: Ability. Miami, FL

    • March 16 – SW NASW Celebration and award dinner Ft. Myers, FL

    • March 17 – Student Breakfast in celebration of Social Work Day!

    • March 18 – Professional Development: “The Duluth Model in the Treatment of Men Who Batter Women”. Palm Beach, FL

    • March 19 – Professional Development: “Conflict Resolution in the Workplace”. Palm Beach, FL

    • March 19 – SSW Volunteer Days- Lotus House. Miami, FL

    • March 19 – Celebrating Women’s History Month and Social Work with the Girl Scouts. Ft. Myers, FL

    • March 21 – What’s New in Florida: From Death Row to Restorative  Justice Workshop. Miami, FL

  2. Colorado State University's School of Social Work will launch its Inaugural Brad Sheafor Lecture in Social Work Month 2016 featuring William Elliott, III on March 23.

  3. Marist College

    • March 9 - Panel Night hosted by the Social Work Association- 7 area social workers will share their knowledge, skills, and career trajectory with students across campus
    • March 10 - Professional Development Series- "Working with Children and Adolescents" an interactive lecture with local clinical social worker and adjunct professor
    • March 10 and 29 -  Students will host a table in the breezeway, where they will distribute information about  career opportunities in social work
  4. St. Olaf College will hold a tabling session: What Does Social Work Means to You. The social work program will also host a Social Work Month celebration on March 11.  The college will hold a Social Work and Family Studies Career Night on March 15.

  5. University of California, Berkeley School of Social Welfare will celebrate Social Work Month by hosting a Social Work Career Series. Each Monday in the month of March, Berkeley Social Welfare will host an Employer Information Session featuring a local agency or organization that serves the diverse communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our undergraduate and graduate students will have the opportunity to connect with and gain insight from multi-level practitioners and leaders in the field which informs the practice they will engage in upon commencement. The month will culminate with a Social Work Careers Panel feature 10 hiring employers who may also be alumni of our program - a nice treat for students! This series recognizes the diversity of areas in which social work has impact as well as recognizes the contributions of our alumni to field of social work.
