The Carl A. Scott Memorial Fund was established to carry forth his lifelong dedication to racial and social justice by supporting scholarship, building knowledge, and promoting the well-being of individuals and communities. The Lecture Series commemorates his enduring contributions and challenges the field to continue the work he so passionately championed. 2026 Carl A. Scott Book Scholarship
The 2026 Carl A. Scott Book Scholarship is now open. Two $500 book scholarships that will be awarded to one BSW and one MSW student who have demonstrated their commitment to promoting equity, racial, economic, and environmental justice in their social work careers. 2026 Hokenstad International Lecture
The Hokenstad International Lecture series was launched in 2007 through an endowment from M. C. “Terry” Hokenstad, a former president and long-time member of CSWE. The 2025 Hokenstad International Lecture will be given during the 2026 CSWE Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, October 22–25, 2026. The lecturer will be provided international airfare (economy class), 2 nights of hotel accommodation, a conference registration, and an honorarium of $1,000 (US). 2026 Community Partnership Action Award
The Community Partnership Action (CPA) Award honors the contributions of schools and departments of social work and social work students (BSW, MSW, PhD/DSW) in advancing community partnership action. The CPA Award will be presented at the Carl A. Scott Memorial Lecture, which is given annually at the CSWE Annual Conference. "Community" is broadly defined as a self-organized network of people with a common agenda, cause, or interest and is not limited by physical locality.
The CPA Student Award recognizes two students (BSW, MSW, or PhD/DSW) who have engaged in a community partnership activity that successfully promoted social, economic, or environmental justice. The CPA Social Work Program Award recognizes up to two students and up to two CSWE-accredited social work programs that encourage their faculty, students, and staff members to engage in community-based social, economic, or environmental justice activities. Some examples might be particular classes, advocacy activities, field assignments or projects, interprofessional collaboration, and culturally based interventions. 2026 Disability Manuscript Award
The award recognizes scholarship that contributes to knowledge about disability; full participation of persons with disabilities; social, political, and economic issues related to disability and persons with disabilities; and social work education curriculum materials focused on disability and persons with disabilities. Disability Manuscript Award winner(s) will be recognized at the CSWE Annual Conference. The application cycle closed on March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (ET).
2026 Council on Racial, Ethnic, and Cultural Diversity Award (PhD Student & Jr. Faculty Member)
The award recognizes doctoral students and junior faculty members with outstanding scholarship in the areas of racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity in social work education. An award will be given to a doctoral student and a junior faculty member during the CSWE Annual Conference. The application cycle closed on March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM, (ET).
2026 2-Spirit, Queer and/or Trans People of Color (2-QTPOC) Award
The Two-Spirit, Queer, Trans, and/or gender expansive People of Color Award (Spirit Award) recognizes the significant teaching, practice, or service contributions of CSWE member(s) to the two-spirit, queer, transgender, gender non-binary and gender expansive communities and communities of color in programs of social work practice.
These contributions may include but are not limited to creating and fostering an inclusive environment in social work programs, developing innovative approaches to ensuring excellence in field education, mentoring two-spirit, queer, transgender, gender non-binary and gender expansive students, faculty, and staff, implementing activities that fosters or sustains a positive and inclusive culture and climate, and elevating core social work values in social work practice. 2026 CORSW Feminist Manuscript Award
The CORSW Feminist Manuscript recognizes manuscript authors who draw upon feminist and womanist theory, research methods, and/or educational and practice perspectives are welcome. With a clear focus and centering of the feminisms, including Womanist and Xicanism perspectives, topics may include:
- innovative and effective social work practices and educational models
- histories of women in social work practice and education
- strategies to address intersecting identities (e.g., racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, class, age, disability)
- efforts to increase the presence of underrepresented populations at all levels of social work education
- application of feminist theories and methods to diverse populations
- feminist-informed administration and leadership models
- global contexts for women’s participation in social work practice, research, and education
- professional commitments to social justice and equality for women
2026 CORSW Student Feminist Manuscript Award
The CORSW Student Feminist Manuscript recognizes manuscripts written by a BSW and/or a MSW student, as the lead manuscript author. The manuscript must show that the work advances feminist knowledge and is written by a scholar who shows an understanding of and dedication to the feminisms as it pertains to social work theory, research, practice, policy, and education. 2026 CORSW Feminist Scholarship Award
The CSWE Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education annually honors a scholar who advances feminist knowledge, including Womanist and Xicanism perspectives. Advancement of knowledge may be through social work theory, research, practice, policy, and education. The application cycle closed on March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (ET).
2026 CORSW Community Impact Award
The CORSW Community Impact Award recognizes community practice, which shapes the process of social work education by exemplifying the feminist leadership models. The criteria for the award are:
- The recipient should have an affiliation with one or more accredited social work education programs (i.e., community-engaged research partnerships, field education placements, or other service-learning opportunities).
- The recipient engages in feminist practice and leadership in a community setting, drawing on theories, models, competencies, and practice behaviors from their social work education.
- The recipient clearly articulates how their approach to practice, program, and/or policy reform shapes awareness of how social work education through the real world of community, contributes to feminist leadership, and the grand challenges of social work.

2026 CORSW-Violence Against Women and Children Manuscript Award
The annual CORSW Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Manuscript Award honors manuscript author(s) who advance feminist knowledge in the field of violence against women and children. The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding scholarship of early career scholars working in the area of violence against women and children in social work education, so to be considered for the VAWC Manuscript award, the awardee must be an early career scholar who is the sole presenter or primary presenter of the accepted conference presentation. For the purpose of this award, an early career scholar is defined as a doctoral student or an academic professional with no more than seven years since earning their highest degree (either an MSW, DSW, or PhD). 2026 Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression Scholarship (SOGIE) Award
The Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, & Expression (SOGIE) Award honors excellence in scholarship that celebrates the lives of; promotes social justice, equity, and inclusion, and expands understanding of intersectional topics that affect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, sexual-expansive, gender-expansive, two-spirit, and all others under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, in social work education and practice. The award is given to research that demonstrates high impact and advances the core values of the social work profession regarding LGBTQIA+ communities. The focus of this award is the promotion of high impact, peer-reviewed LGBTQIA+ scholarship related to social work education and practice. 2026 Partners in International Education Awards
The CSWE Commission on Global Social Work Education is pleased to announce the 21st annual Partners in Advancing International Education (PIE) Awards program, honoring the contribution of social work faculty members, social work students (BSW, MSW, or PhD), and organizations as partners in advancing education for global social work. The PIE awards are given in recognition of conceptual, curricular, and programmatic innovations in education for global social work. All nominations must be U.S.-based actively working on global issues. The application cycle closed on March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (ET).
2026 CORSW Mentor Recognition
The Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education (Women's Council) is responsible for providing awareness about the status and role of individuals who identify as women in social work education. The Council works for the full participation of individuals who identify as women, uplifting the work of individuals who identify as women in social work education, and facilitating mentorships for peers, junior faculty, and students through their education journey and into leadership positions in social work education.
The mentor recognition award honors your mentor through the Women’s Council Mentor Recognition Fund. This mentoring project not only recognizes the influence of mentors in the lives of our members but also helps support the ongoing work of the Women’s Council. Mentors will be recognized at the Feminist Networking Breakfast at the CSWE Annual Conference. The application cycle closed on March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (ET).
