Proposals

The Council on Social Work Education is currently accepting proposal submissions.

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) invites proposals for the 68th Annual Program Meeting (APM) in Anaheim, CA, November 10–13, 2022. The conference theme—Leading Critical Conversations: Human Rights Are Global Rights—builds on the theme of the 2021 APM, which focused on racial, economic, and environmental justice and challenged us to prepare the next generation of social workers to be explicitly antiracist. This year’s theme invites us to address human rights that belong to every human being both in the United States and around the world including freedom of speech, privacy, health care, life, liberty, and security, as well as an adequate standard of living including access to housing and a living wage.

Participants are invited to submit proposals on the following and other related topics:

  • Civil rights
  • Global social work
  • Housing as a human right
  • Children and families: rights and protections
  • Poverty prevention and eradication
  • Reproductive rights
  • Immigration and forced migration
  • Social and economic justice
  • Environmental justice
  • Prisoners' rights
  • Human trafficking
  • Women's rights
  • LGBTQI+ rights and protections
  • Health as a human right (e.g., the pandemic and its disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations)

CSWE invites proposals from multiple perspectives and voices. Proposals should raise critical issues about practices, policies, and structures that hinder or advance human rights. They should also clearly identify strategies for improving curricula and teaching practices and creating more inclusive learning environments in the context of social work education.

We encourage submissions focused on the conference theme for each of the 40 social work tracks. The 2022 APM program will be developed using two proposal categories, peer-reviewed proposals and non-peer reviewed proposals.

Peer-Reviewed Proposals
Each peer-reviewed proposal is submitted to one of the 40 Tracks. There are four presentation format options: electronic poster, interactive workshop, paper presentation, and panel.

Non-Peer Reviewed Proposals
There are seven format options for non-peer reviewed proposals: three types of preconference workshops, one postconference workshop, CSWE Connect sessions, Hot Topic sessions, and Partnership presentations.
