Preconference Institutes
CSWE is pleased to offer three preconference events at the 2024 Annual Program Meeting (APM). These preconference events will be held on Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 24. Attendance at each event requires a separate registration and fee.
CSWE Center for Diversity Pre-Conference Institute (off-site)
Wednesday, October 23, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM
The 2024 APM will host a CSWE Center for Diversity Pre-Conference Institute for faculty, students, and staff of social work programs! Participants will visit sites in or near Kansas City to gain a deeper understanding of Indigenous knowledge and environmental justice related to our host city.

Leadership Development Institute
Thursday, October 24, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
The 2024 APM will offer an all-day Leadership Development Institute for faculty members focused on anti-oppressive leadership strategies, crisis management, and/or responsiveness to world events. The 2024 Leadership Development Institute is open to any faculty and will be focused on mentorship across the leadership journey; leadership values; Indigenous knowledge and self-care; and leadership responsiveness to dynamic higher education landscapes.

Field Education Institute
Thursday, October 24 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
The 2024 APM will offer an all-day Field Education Institute. This institute will provide joint and separate opportunities for new and experienced field educators to work together to advance field education. The 2024 institute will focus on issues in field education, including orientating and supporting new field directors; field education as the signature pedagogy of social work education; and indigenous knowledge sovereignty and environmental justice in field education.

Assessment Institute
Thursday, October 24, 2024, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
The 2024 APM will offer the Assessment Institute designed for faculty and academic staff members. The Assessment Institute will focus on assessment trends and best practices in higher education. The Institute will include speakers and dialogue on practices in competency-based assessment and the 2022 EPAS.

Student Summit
Thursday, October 24, 1:00 PM–5:00 PMCSWE is pleased to offer the Student Summit at the 2024 Annual Program Meeting (APM). The 2024 Student Summit is a student-focused event to explore transforming ideas to advocacy through harnessing student passion around social work issues. The Student Summit will include expert speakers on legislative advocacy, open discussion, and connection with other social work students. The goal of the summit is to give social work students their own voice at APM as well as provide insight and information to BSW and MSW students approaching graduation.
